Spatial Resolution

As V2G-Sim models run at the individual vehicle level, vehicle-grid interactions can be spatially-resolved at any scale. For wholesale market or transmission system impacts, users may specify individual vehicle locations at the city, state, or utility scale. For distribution system impacts, users may specify individual vehicle locations at the neighborhood, distribution feeder, or GPS-coordinate scale. Users may also model spatial resolution by location type rather than actual location. For instance, users can apply V2G-Sim to distinguish between charging occurring at home locations, workplace locations, public charging locations, etc.


Vehicle locations are specified in V2G-Sim as location data in the form of alphanumeric strings. This location data can come from any data source, such as a travel survey, real time data, or custom-generated. User-specified charging or discharging control algorithms can consider this location data to enable chosen charging control algorithms to be applied in one location, while a different charging control algorithm is applied in another location.
